Quick Facts
About Shakespeare By The Sea
The largest and longest-running outdoor theatre festival in Atlantic Canada, Shakespeare By The Sea brings the Bard's classics and original family productions to the historic Cambridge Battery in Point Pleasant Park. Running for over three decades, this beloved Halifax summer tradition transforms the 19th-century fortification into a dramatic backdrop for professional theatre.
Each season features a mix of Shakespeare's greatest works alongside family-friendly productions and world premieres. The unique outdoor setting creates an immersive theatrical experience where history, nature, and performance converge. Audiences are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs to enjoy professional-quality theatre under the open sky.
The 2026 season runs July 4 through August 29, with performances Thursday through Sunday evenings. Tickets are available online or at the gate, with both the main stage and family stage offering programming throughout the summer.
